Diving into the Standard river
For this past week, we have been introduced to ELA technology standards. Of everything that we have been introduced to so far this is easily the subject that I feel the most comfortable with. I do not feel like I will struggle with helping my future students with meeting the standards presented by the government. With the growing use of technology by the younger generation it will likely be the easiest time to meet these standards. Of course, I am not going to immediately know what to do, but that is a large part of being a teacher. You learn over time.
We have also learned about another valuable resource on our journey. This new resource is known as CPALMS. I find it to be most useful when it comes to researching what standards my future lesson plans will need to meet. They do have lesson plans available on their website, but I am not interested in making use of them. I would prefer to make my own lesson plans for individual students. Fortunately, the website offers great resources to allow me to do that.
Lastly, we were tasked with creating a newsletter for our future classroom. We had to use Microsoft Word in order to create the layout. While I did not necessarily learn any new skills it was an eye-opening experience. Now I know that in the future I am capable of designing my own newsletters. The skills involved in putting the newsletter together will also help me with creating other documents.

I agree that it will be much easier to teach the future generations skills in technology because they will be so much more familiar with it. I too feel prepared to make newsletters because of the design we had to create!
